Porter is now just over 2 years old. Porter is the son of Drifter (the most decorated Chocolate Pointing Lab in history)! He is in the process of training for his Certified and Advanced Pointing titles this spring – piece of cake for this stud. He is a natural pointer, has responded incredibly well to training and shows an endless amount of energy and enthusiasm for all aspects of training and hunting. He is likely the most athletic Lab you will ever see. He is incredibly fast, the perfect build, and tireless. This dog is going to really make Ol’ Drifter proud when it is all said and done. His trainer started out calling Porter “knucklehead” because he had only one speed – fast! After a few months, he started dropping hints that Porter was the best chocolate he had ever worked with. Now, after about 7 months of training, Porter’s trainer no longer specifies color when he says that he is the best he’s worked with… This dog is a dream come true.

Chocolate Pointing Labs are the rarest of the 3 AKC recognized colors. We are often asked if there is a difference between the Chocolate and the Yellow or Black labs. The answer, of course, is yes – the color! But that is really the only difference. Just like humans have dominant and recessive genes, dog’s do too. The chocolate is the most recessive of the three colors. Ultimately, this means that as breeders we have to be even more picky and selective with our chocolate labrador retriever breeding. We know how difficult it can be to find a high quality chocolate pointing labrador. We are committed to the best pedigrees, proven bloodlines, and careful attention to the resulting qualities of the dogs we are breeding.

Peptides: Anti Aging at it’s best! The latest trend in skin care ingredients….. Skin Care Product Ingredients today include some of the most effective technology for anti aging and skin rejuvenation. Many Skin Specialists favorite ingredients include: glycolic acid, vitamin c (stabilized), hyaluronic acid, plant essences and now, peptides! Even the latest “lash growth” products contain peptides for maximum lash enhancement.

Why Peptides? As we age, environmental factors, hormones, sun damage etc. cause our skin to produce less collagen and elastin. It is collagen that supports the structure of our skin making it firm and resilient. The recent development of Peptides (fragments of proteins) further enhance the ability to stimulate collagen, allowing us to offset many of the signs of aging. There are many types of peptides (some more effective than others) and finding it at the bottom of your skin care ingredient list, likely means the product contains such a minimal amount. However, the other ingredients may have benefits to address skin rejuvenation so don’t let that deter you unless you are looking for fairly concentrated products. As clinical skin specialists we research and personally use these popular ingredients to produce dramatic anti aging results.

Peptides and their benefits:

Tetra and Pentapeptides-(favorites) stimulate collagen to plump and firm the outermost layer of the skin. Relax facial muscles that contribute to expression lines and furrows. Examples: Rated *Most Popular- (Jan Marini Age Intervention Regeneration Booster), Jan Marini Transformation Cream, Eye Cream & Tranformation Serum. Hexapeptides-Relax wrinkles to calm muscle contractions that contribute to our facial expressions that result as deep furrows and wrinkles.

Hexapeptide 11- Has similar properties to human growth hormone, therefore stimulating the hair follicle and allowing the scalp or lash hair to reach it’s maximum potential. Jan Marini “Marini Lash“, and SD Lash & Brow Gel.

Tripeptide- (SynAke Trademark)-Also relaxes facial muscles to offset facial expression lines/wrinkles.

Many refer to Peptides as “Botox without the Pain”. Botox is a relatively quick result to minimize lines and wrinkles, that is not always without side effects, bruising, uneven or drooping eyelids etc.

Peptides are a non invasive alternative by which the results are cumulative and continue to improve skin over time. Jan Marini Regeneration Booster also contains Telomerase Enzyme. A unique anti aging ingredient that further compliments peptides and resets the cells “aging clocks”. Peptides along with anti aging ingredients such as topical vitamin c, glycolic acid and also recent developments in plant and flower rejuvenation benefits have been highly effective in reducing lines, wrinkles, scars and improving your overall glow!

Clears Acne and Smoothes Out Age Thickened Skin

A natural occurring compound, is a member of the chemical family referred to as: ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS. Glycolic Acid is the most active and beneficial of the Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids (AHA) in skin care and is made from sugar cane.

It is the only AHA which is able to penetrate through the cell walls by virtue of its small molecular size. Once inside the cell, it will trigger new formation of collagen and turn on the synthesis of dermal glycosaminoglycans to plump up the cell and the ground substances in the skin to reduce wrinkles on the skins surface.

Glycolic Acid also affects the newly forming keratin cells at the bottom of the stratum corneum causing the bulk of the stratum corneum to lift off and separate from the underlying skin. This gives the skin a much smoother look and feel.

Glycolic Acid has been proven to be very effective in the treatment of acne along with other cosmetic benefits.

The Benefits of glycolic acid make it one of the most effective substances for many skin conditions including:

Acne

Acne Scarring

White-heads

Blackheads

Pustules

Bumps including razor bumps

Psoriasis Eczema

Dry skin

Age spots/Sun spots/Freckles

Sun damage

Wrinkles

Fine lines

Hyperpigmentation

Seborrheic keratosis

Pre-cancerous growths

Hyperkeratosis

Actinic keratosis and many other skin conditions

Glycolic Acids used in combination with MSM, Colostrum and Vitamins (especially vitamin C) will greatly enhance the positive effects from Glycolic Acid treatments.

You can protect yourself from the harmful effects of the sun’s rays by staying indoors, but most people like to be outdoors at least some of the time. To protect yourself from sun exposure, you should use sunscreen, wear a hat and sunglasses, and cover as much of your skin with protective clothing as you can.

Sunscreen is an important part of your sun-protection routine. Sunscreens prevent some UV rays from reaching your skin. Sunscreens are labeled with an SPF (sun protection factor) number. In general, the higher the SPF number, the more protection the product provides against UV light.

It is important to note that sunscreens can lose their effectiveness if they are not applied thoroughly and completely, washed off by swimming or perspiration, or rubbed off by contact with clothing. Remember to reapply sunscreen periodically.

The sun’s rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. If possible, do not stay out in the sun for too long during these hours. If you are outside during this time, use a sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher.

Some people think having a tan gives them a “healthy glow.” But a tan really shows that the skin is trying to protect itself from sun damage. Sun damage can lead to premature aging (wrinkles!), eye damage and skin cancer. Even “indoor tanning” is not without risk. Tanning beds and lamps can expose you to even more harmful ultraviolet (UV) light than the sun does. And tanning products such as “self-tanners, “sunless sprays and pills can expose you to additional risks, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Before you try to get a tan, you should learn how and why our skin tans. When a type of radiation (ultraviolet [UV] radiation) is exposed to the skin, the skin responds by producing melanin. Melanin is a dark substance that helps prevent the body from taking in too many harmful sunrays that can damage skin.

Sun Exposure

The sun produces two kinds of rays, UVA and UVB. UVB rays are around all year and UVA rays are mostly present only during the summer. UVA rays are regarded as “safer” and they cause the skin to age, while UVB rays cause the skin to burn. However, both of these types of rays are harmful and dangerous in large quantities. Overexposure to the sun can cause sunburn and even skin cancer. In order to avoid these serious risks, many people choose to obtain a fake tan using some of the methods discussed below.

Tanning Beds and Lamps

A tanning bed is an artificial way to get a tan. A person lies down on a sun bed with lights over them. These lights produce UV radiation, most commonly UVA rays but sometimes UVB rays as well. Sun beds, just like the sun, can damage your skin.

Overuse of sun beds can lead to eye damage (especially if you do not wear goggles), skin cancer, as well as aging of the skin. Tanning beds and lamps are just as dangerous as actual sunlight and should be avoided. They are both dangerous and expensive.

Acne – Acne is the most common skin condition in humans, affecting nearly 45 million Americans each year. Acne develops where there are more oil glands present, e.g. face, scalp, chest, back and neck. There are many different types of acne and each patient should be treated according to their particular case.

Aging – Aging of the skin is a result of many different factors that can be broken into two categories: intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic or uncontrollable aging is chronological and genetic. Facial wrinkling, expression lines and drier, more sensitive skin may be a result of intrinsic aging. The extrinsic or more controllable factors of aging refer to exposure to the sun and/or pollutants which cause a breakdown of the skin’s structure, leading to discoloration, wrinkles, skin growths and even cancer. Many skin scientists believe the extrinsic factors are to blame for 90% of the visible signs of aging. When attempting to correct signs of aging, it is important to use products that not only treat, but also prevent future damage from occurring.

Hyperpigmentation (skin discoloration) – Hyperpigmentation is the darkening of an area of skin. Causes of hyperpigmentation range from sun damage caused by UV exposure, hormone fluctuations due to pregnancy or menopause, and skin injuries such as acne scarring. Certain skin types can also be more susceptible to hyperpigmentation. It is important to consult with a skin care professional prior to using products to even skin discoloration as high percentages of strong ingredients can cause further irritation and lead to more discoloration.

Rosacea – Rosacea is a somewhat misunderstood skin condition. Currently, there is no known cure or cause. Rosacea is generally characterized by persistent redness and/or breakouts on the central areas of the face, commonly affecting the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin. Although there is no cure, there are many different methods of controlling rosacea symptoms. There are medical therapies that work well in conjunction with cosmeceuticals and professional treatments to control rosacea symptoms. Consult a physician for a diagnosis and treatment recommendations.

Myth: Chemical peels & homecare products can be used to lighten freckles. Truth: Freckles that have been present since early childhood are part of your genetic make-up. Most people who have a naturally freckled complexion may try to even the overall tone with frequent UV exposure and tanning. This can lead to additional sun induced freckling and skin discoloration. While chemical peels and cosmeceutical products will correct the freckling from sun damage, freckles that are part of your hereditary background will always resurface. Myth: Acne is only a problem during adolescence. Truth: Acne is becoming a more common skin challenge in adults. Adult acne affects more women than men and is often caused by hormone fluctuations and/or stress. Adult acne most commonly affects the lower areas of the face while adolescent acne is more widespread. As skin ages, oil production slows making it critical to choose products to address adult acne that are not too drying. Acne affects each of us differently as we age and should be treated accordingly. Myth: The light and dark spots that are sometimes present after excessive sun exposure are treatable. Truth: The white areas are called hypopigmentation and, as of now there is no known method to permanently correct this condition. Typically hypopigmentation is accompanied by hyperpigmentation or dark spots that can be treated. Evening the surrounding dark spots will often lessen the appearance of the lighter areas. Myth: Oily or breakout-prone skin requires multiple cleansings throughout the day and does not need any moisturizer. Truth: Cleansing the skin more than the recommended twice daily and/or using harsh soaps can actually cause the skin to produce more oil. The skin is programmed to keep itself balanced so when the beneficial natural oils are stripped, its response is to create more oil to compensate. Patients with oilier skin should cleanse with a non-soap cleanser twice a day followed with an antibacterial matte finish hydrator both day and night. The application of the correct moisturizer will also help to regulate the amount of oil produced throughout the day.

A microdermabrasion acne procedure is one to consider if your facial skin has suffered scarring due to nodules, cysts or other severe forms of acne. The treatment will remove the skin’s top layer of dead cells and smooth scarred tissue. This procedure works especially well for those who have suffered rare, disfiguring acne conditions. Microdermabrasion smooths the surface of the skin, removes very fine lines, stimulates collagen production, and reduces skin imperfections.

Microdermabrasion acne scars removal is an option for people whose severe breakouts result in scars on the face. However it will not work on acne scars that are very deeply imbedded in the skin; it is for scars that have not extremely deep, but are closer to the outer layer of skin. It’s important to note that acne microdermabrasion is not a good choice for those individuals with the following conditions: rosacea, herpes, warts, eczema, lupus, and diabetes. Other conditions may also influence the safety of the treatment and a dermatologist will help to determine what is best for each patient.

Acne microdermabrasion will further promote new skin cell production in the deepest layer of the skin as it clears dull and congested skin. The procedure takes about 30 minutes and maximum results are achieved between 4 to 12 visits, depending on the severity of the skin in the area. Skin in the acne dermabrasion area will be slightly pink for a couple of weeks afterward.

Patients find the skin from acne dermabrasion to be tight for the first 24-48 hours. One’s skin may feel like a mild sunburn or windburn, but any further pain is not common. Using a good moisturizer along with a high SPF will help soothe skin after the microdermabrasion acne scars treatment. Also, some peeling and light crusting may be expected in the area. No anesthesia is needed for the procedure, since it is non-invasive. Patients can drive home right after. Patients will see results for up to a year and as such maintenance will be required.

Microdermabrasion acne scar treatment is a good option for those who wish to unclog pores and reduce fine acne scarring. It may be the answer for some individuals, but a trip to the dermatologist is the first step to consider before this procedure. Acne microdermabrasion results will last if done properly and the healing of skin proves to heal acne scars, as well as the individual’s overall appearance.
